Saving You Money on Bills

Published

on

Here’s the lovely Gemma who set up shop to save us all money on bills! She’s helps many people with great success, so here she is to tell us more about herself and her business.

I’ll be 40 this year! Married to Andrew for 8 years, we have 2 children, Walter 8 and Verity 6. I grew up here in Felixstowe and attended Deben High School. My first job was a paper round at Hammonds Newsagents on Hamilton Road, I then worked at Phoenix Fruiters also on Hamilton Road as a teenager. From there I got a job at Felixstowe Leisure Centre and went to catering collage to train as a chef. I also spent some time working in KFC and Hintlesham Hall.

At the age of 21, I was employed as a sales assistant at Hills Jewellers on Orwell Road and after 14 years of service and reaching a shop manger role, I fancied a new challenge and became a Health Care Worker at Felixstowe and Ipswich Hospital. After 18 months, I was offered an Office Manager position at Fairstep Solicitors on Hamilton Road, a fantastic independent solicitors practice which has been helping the town for over 40 years. I’ve been there since November 2017.

In January, I was shown something that has changed my life! I was introduced to UW (Utility Warehouse) after seeing all the benefits and savings I immediately signed up as a customer and soon after I joined as a partner in the company. This company helped us change our lives financially so that we had more money left in our bank account each month to do what we like with. In all my working life I have been grateful to have had jobs that have helped people in one way or another so joining this company was an easy decision for me as it meant I can help people to reduce the costs of their everyday essential services. I help people save time and money by getting all their home services in one, simple, monthly bill.

I work my business around my job at Fairstep and have plenty of time with my family. It was initially a face-to-face business where I would make appointments to see people in there homes or in a café, but since lockdown I have had to change the way I work. Luckily UW very quickly provided me with the technology to provide my customers with remote appointments, and when used along with FaceTime or Zoom, etc., I can easily help people to save without any physical contact. Many of us are obviously anxious about changing providers during these uncertain times, which is understandable, but it could also be the best time to change as most of us would like to be paying less for more right now.

If you’d like to know more, please take a look at my Facebook page and book a free no obligation appointment with me to see how much I could save you.

The Mariners Freehouse Full Makeover Ready for Re-Opening

Published

on

After a total refurbishment inside and out, we’re looking forward to opening our doors once again at 10am Saturday 4th July.

We will have a one way system with an entrance and a separate exit. When entering you will be asked to sanitise, we will show you to your table and once your settled, you can download our app and order straight to the bar. We will be offering full table service, so no one has to leave their table unless they need the toilet. At the moment, we will not allow tables bigger than 6 customers at a time but hope we will be able to review this in the coming months.

All the garden, bar and restaurant areas are set out to at least a metre giving comfort and safety. There will be sanitiser points at each doorway and in both the gents and ladies toilets. We have some Pop up screens which we can move round the pub and use at different tables if required. Only one person will be allowed in the toilets at one time. Once people vacate their tables, they will be completely sanitised ready for our next customers.

We are offering food all day Saturday from 12-9pm. And after this weekend, we hope to be adding tapas to enjoy every Saturday afternoon. Perfect for sharing with friends and family. On Sunday we will be cooking our normal classic menu but adding our Homemade Sunday Roast as a special between 12-6pm. But be quick as once the roasts go as a special you’ll have to choose off our classic menu which is just as yummy.

We will be operating a booking system to help us stagger our customers arrival time to help avoid queues. Of course your always welcome to pop in without booking, but you may be disappointed… the crew look forward to welcome you aboard our trusty ship once again.

As it begins to re-open its services after lockdown local hearing care specialists The Hearing Care Centre have a very clear message to anyone needing support with their hearing “Your safety is our priority”.

The company which offers audiology services from the Grove Medical Centre has 27 centres spread across Suffolk and Norfolk.

Audiologist Karen Finch, founder of the company said “Following the comprehensive COVID-19 joint guidance from the UK’s audiology professional bodies, we have examined every single aspect of how we deliver our service to ensure that we can do so safely as we move forward. This has taken weeks of work and preparation but we are now totally confident that we can offer you the support you need in a safe way.”

Karen added “The most satisfying part of being able to re-open for care is knowing that we offer a valuable and much needed service. The relief for patients after receiving our help and treatment has been overwhelming and emotional.

“It is great to once again be able to offer services in Felixstowe and we are saying if you have discovered during lockdown you need support with your hearing, please don’t let hearing loss prolong your isolation. We are here for you.”
