Felixstowe’s Hit Eaterie Branches out in Response to COVID-19

Published

on

One of Felixstowe’s favourite cafes, ‘Spud Hut’ has announced it will be extending its offering to customers in response to Coronavirus.

The much-loved lunchtime eaterie, which offers homemade filled jacket potatoes, salads, paninis, cakes and fresh coffee, re-opened on the 20th May, providing collection-only lunches.

Now, as social distancing restrictions mean that they are unable to welcome dine-in customers, the team is launching an innovative new lunch option, offering freshly-made sweet and savoury crepes to collect from the front of the shop.

Spud Hut owner Hannah Walker explains, “Along with the majority of local businesses, we’ve been significantly impacted by Covid-19, and restrictions mean it will be some time before we can welcome people to sit in the shop to enjoy their food and drink.

“We’ve not backed down from a challenge yet though, so we’ve come up with a new way to provide even more homemade foods for people to enjoy that they can collect and eat ‘on the go’ or take home.

“We wanted to come up with something that people in Felixstowe can’t already buy – so sweet and savoury crepes were the answer!

“We really hope they will be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. We can’t wait to hear the feedback and reviews of our customers, so do come along and give them a try.”

The new crepes will cater for vegan and gluten free diets and will be available alongside the traditional menu.

Spud Hut is currently open from 10am-2pm Weds – Fri for takeaways / collections only. Check the Spud Hut Facebook page for news and updates.

The Mariners Freehouse Full Makeover Ready for Re-Opening

Published

on

After a total refurbishment inside and out, we’re looking forward to opening our doors once again at 10am Saturday 4th July.

We will have a one way system with an entrance and a separate exit. When entering you will be asked to sanitise, we will show you to your table and once your settled, you can download our app and order straight to the bar. We will be offering full table service, so no one has to leave their table unless they need the toilet. At the moment, we will not allow tables bigger than 6 customers at a time but hope we will be able to review this in the coming months.

All the garden, bar and restaurant areas are set out to at least a metre giving comfort and safety. There will be sanitiser points at each doorway and in both the gents and ladies toilets. We have some Pop up screens which we can move round the pub and use at different tables if required. Only one person will be allowed in the toilets at one time. Once people vacate their tables, they will be completely sanitised ready for our next customers.

We are offering food all day Saturday from 12-9pm. And after this weekend, we hope to be adding tapas to enjoy every Saturday afternoon. Perfect for sharing with friends and family. On Sunday we will be cooking our normal classic menu but adding our Homemade Sunday Roast as a special between 12-6pm. But be quick as once the roasts go as a special you’ll have to choose off our classic menu which is just as yummy.

We will be operating a booking system to help us stagger our customers arrival time to help avoid queues. Of course your always welcome to pop in without booking, but you may be disappointed… the crew look forward to welcome you aboard our trusty ship once again.
