Six Public-Access Defibrillators in the Town

Did you know that there are now at least six Community Public Access Defibrillators in the town?

Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Felixstowe, Felixstowe Town Council has been able to install two further defibrillators!!

The devices, which can deliver a brief electric jolt to establish a normal heart rhythm, are kept within secure high-visibility cabinets installed externally so that they can be accessed at all times in case of an emergency.

With a further defibrillator installed at the Viewpoint Café, Landguard, thanks to funding from Suffolk County Councillor, Graham Newman’s Locality budget and another planned for Felixstowe Ferry, funded by District Councillor, Andy Smith’s, Community Enabling budget, Felixstowe is now well-equipped with these potentially life-saving devices.

Cllr Graham Newman said: “It is a privilege to be able to support this initiative which shows just how important the local councils treat the health and wellbeing of the community and its visitors.”

The kit is fully automatic and registered with the ambulance service, so emergency callers can be told the code and directed to the nearest one if required.

The locations of each defibrillator are as follows:

Felixstowe Library – outside near the entrance

Felixstowe Leisure Centre

Sea Road Public Toilets – opposite the Sunday Market location a little further up for Mannings Amusements

Landguard Visitor Café – where the View Point Cafe is.

Old Felixstowe Community Hall – near the entrance

Co-op store at 279-281 High Street, Walton

A further one is soon to be ordered and installed at the Harbourmaster’s Office, Felixstowe Ferry (paid via Cllr A Smith’s Enabling Communities Budget)

We’ve been told by the folks from the Town Council, that M&S are believed to have one too – but these may not be ‘Community Public Access’ Defibrillators and available 24/7.

Any individuals or organisations who would like further information, please contact Felixstowe Town Hall.

Spread the word peeps… this is a great facility for the town!
