Felixstowe Listening Service When Life Hurts, It Helps To Talk
Life can be painful. Things just don’t always go as smoothly as we would like. We all know the experience of being confronted with a problem that won’t go away, a difficult situation that we can’t seem to resolve, a hurtful relationship.
And when it would help to talk things over, there isn’t always someone there to listen. Family and friends want to be there for us but sometimes they can be too close to the situation or want to give us advice when we need to sort things out for ourselves. And sometimes we feel that they won’t understand or we are worried that they may tell someone else. We may even feel that they will judge us, that we will be embarrassed or ashamed.
For two and a half years, Felixstowe Listening Service has offered a safe and confidential place where people can talk about their life difficulties, share their story and explore their options. Our volunteer listeners are trained to offer the caring support which helps people to find the right way forward for themselves. We do not offer advice and we certainly never judge people. We are simply there to listen when it helps people to talk. Our service is free, although we do welcome donations.
