BASIC LIFE CHARITY – SEPTEMBER UPDATE
September is upon us and it’s that time of year for back to school, starting those adult classes you always promised yourself and looking forward to those slightly more autumnal walks along the prom!
As our rather glorious summer draws to a close, it’s all change at BASIC as we rotate the stock in preparation for the new season.
So, if you need a slightly warmer coat, some last minute uniform items for the children or some tracksuit bottoms for your new badminton lessons, come and give us a visit!
Pop-Up Community shop
We’re so excited about the continued growth of our Community Pop-Up Shop, which is held at St.Edmund’s Church, Langer Road, 11am-12 noon each Tuesday.
In August we also received donations of premium vegetable products from our new friends and Felixstowe residents, Pete and Helen.
They own The Fabulous Barbecue Company and were kind enough to show their support with some fantastic donations.
We’re continuing our campaign to stop food waste in our town and we’re delighted to say that Tesco have added us to the community groups they will be supporting.
From the autumn we will be receiving excess items from their stores at Martlesham and Kesgrave and from next year the Metro stores, like our own in Hamilton Road, will be joining in.
We believe our idea is quite unique and we’ve received enquiries about the project from people in other towns – so we could be developing it further!
In the meantime, we’re adding more items to our St.Edmund’s shop with shoes, handbags and more clothes available each Tuesday.
Our volunteers, who were joined by members of Walton 2nd Guides last month, do an amazing job and we’d like to say a big public ‘thank you’ to them.
We’re always taken aback by the real community spirit in Felixstowe and isn’t it lovely to see so many groups and organisations working together in our town?
We’re so lucky to live here! Have a great September!
